Set in the same world as the incredibly popular anime series Black Clover, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King has something for both long-time fans of the anime and potential newcomers to show. The movie revolves around the mysterious reappearance of former Wizard King Conrad Leto. Conrad Leto, who was sealed away by Wizard King Julius Novachrono, has escaped and looks to exact his revenge on Julius and the entire Clover Kingdom.

10 Magic Knights Seal Away the Former Wizard King Conrad Leto
The movie starts off with a demonstration of how powerful the former Wizard King is. At the beginning of the film, we see all the captains of the Magic Knight squads along with Julius Novachrono himself attempt to restrain Conrad Leto. Despite being grossly outnumbered, the former Wizard King is able to fend them all off. While Julius is finally able to seal him away, the fact that they struggled to keep Conrad Leto in check shows how formidable the former Wizard King is.
9 Asta and Noelle Take on Magical Soldiers
As if the former Wizard King Conrad Leto wasn't big enough of a threat, he's brought back up with him to further bolster his odds of success. Former Wizard King Princia Funnybunny's Legion Magic allows her to summon thousands of magical soldiers at will. And while the magical soldiers are able to overpower most people, Asta and Noelle are clearly on another level.
The two are able to cut through the magical soldiers as if they were nothing. Despite being clearly outnumbered, the two are able to defeat enough of them so that the others can escape. What makes this moment so great is that these two characters have basically grown alongside each other throughout the entirety of the series. Seeing how far they've come will surely be awe-inspiring for fans of the anime.
8 Conrad Leto Finds Branch 0
When the former Wizard King reappears, the current Wizard King Julius Novachrono instructs Yuno, Asta, and Noelle to head to Branch 0 to get a tool that will help them deal with Conrad Leto. Branch 0 is a Magic Tool Research Lab that only a handful of people know about in order to protect any secret tools the Clover Kingdom may be working on. Despite this, Conrad Leto manages to find Branch 0 and beat Yuno, Asta, and Noelle to the tool.
Conrad Leto discovers the existence of Branch 0 through his clever use of his Key Magic. After stealing mind-reading magic abilities, Conrad Leto figures out where Yuno, Asta, and Noelle are headed and destroys the tool before they can use it against him.
This scene shows that the former Wizard King is ten steps ahead of them, all while being one of the strongest magic users in the world. It's plot twists like this that make Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King one of the best animated movies to come out this year.
7 Secre Swallowtail and Millie Maxwell Restrain the Former Wizard Conrad Leto
Since Conrad Leto has managed to destroy the only tool that could seal him away, Yuno, Asta, and Noelle must make a run for it as they are clearly outmatched. However, the former Wizard King isn't going to let them get away and attempts to overwhelm the trio. Luckily, Secre Swallowtail and Millie Maxwell are able to temporarily restrain Conrad Leto.
While the Former Wizard King is eventually able to escape, the fact that these two were able to hold him off is already quite impressive. This moment was a reminder that even there are a slew of powerful and skilled magic users within the Clover Kingdom.
6 Asta Inspires the Other Magic Knights
After suffering loss after loss, Asta and the rest of the Magic Knights decide to retreat and regroup. Understandably, many of the Magic Knights are starting to feel hopeless considering how dire the situation is. To make matters worse, Conrad Leto manages to broadcast a message to them informing them that he and the other former Wizard Kings have captured Yami, Nozel, and Fuegoleon.
At this point, many of the Magic Knights have pretty much accepted defeat. However, like any good anime protagonist, Asta snaps them all out of it with a rousing speech. Voice actor Gakuto Kajiwara does an excellent job of portraying the emotions that Asta must have felt at that moment. Asta reminds his fellow Magic Knights that while they may not be strong enough to defeat Conrad Leto alone, together they are capable of so much more.
5 Asta Destroys the Barrier
Not only are the Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom finally able to strike back, but they do so in a major way. After consolidating their forces, the Magic Knights decide to attack Conrad Leto's flying fortress. Before they can get close former Wizard King Jester Garandros summons a magical barrier to impede their attack. This is when Asta summons a gigantic Anti Magic sword to destroy the barrier. Yuno, Asta's main rival, even gives him a hand and uses his Wind Magic to strengthen Asta's attack.
4 Asta vs. the Former Wizard King Conrad Leto
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? One of the most memorable parts of the fight is when the former Wizard King Conrad Leto unleashes a barrage of different types of magic that he's taken from other Magic Knights.
Despite the massive difference in strength, Asta refuses to stay down. This fight is one of the best moments in the movie because it highlights Asta's unflinching resolve. This emphasizes how Asta's true power is in his refusal to ever give up.
3 Noelle and the Black Bulls Defeat Former Wizard King Edward Avalaché
The Black Bulls are a lovable band of misfits, so it's great to see them shine like this. Despite being outmatched, the Black Bulls manage to overpower Edward Avalaché by combining their unique magic types. At one point, Gauche aids Noelle by using his Mirror Magic to replicate Noelle's Sea Dragon Roars. This results in hundreds of water dragons simultaneously attacking the former Wizard King Edward Avalaché.
2 Mereoleona Vermillion vs. Former Wizard King Princia Funnybunny
Considering the number of great fights in the movie, it was quite tricky figuring out which ones would make this list. Mereoleona against the former Wizard King Princia Funnybunny has got to be up there as one of the best fights in an animated movie.
What's so great about this fight is that it keeps ramping up even when you think it's peaked. This isn't at all surprising considering the two characters involved might just be the strongest magic-users from their respective generations.
1 Asta Uses Wields Elsdocia
Despite his best efforts, Asta can't seem to overcome the former Wizard King Conrad Leto. However, he does manage to wrestle the magical sword Elsdocia away from him. While Asta may not be strong enough on his own, the rest of the Magic Knights lend him their magic by channeling their power into Elsdocia. With the help of all the Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom, Asta is able to strike down Conrad Leto and effectively ends all the chaos that he's stirred up.
