You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah Cast and Character Guide

Netflix’s You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah has been making headlines like many of Adam Sandler’s films. The coming-of-age comedy film has several members of Sandler’s family which is a nice surprise to his fans. The film is based on the 2005 YA novel of the same name written by Fiona Rosenbloom, while the script was written by Alison Peck. It follows a young Jewish girl, Stacy, who has to deal with having a crush on a boy at school, drama with her best friend, and all of this while she is getting ready for her Bat Mitzvah.

The drama between the two friends, Stacy and Lydia, was caused by how the two of them developed a crush on the same boy. Perhaps one of the most interesting points about the film is the Sandler family being included in it; including his daughters and wife. The film, directed by Crush’s director Sammi Cohen, has been having positive reviews so far since its recent release. It is also part of Sandler’s movie deal with Netflix which began years ago.

All of this makes it a perfect coming-of-age story that a lot of Jews could relate to. To get to know more about You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah, here is a cast and character guide.

Sunny Sandler as Stacy Friedman

Netflix

Sunny Sandler, Sandler’s youngest daughter, plays the lead role of 13-year-old Stacy Friedman in You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah. Stacy is a young Jewish girl who is preparing for her bat mitzvah and hopes that it will make her become popular at school.

She also hopes that it will help make her crush interested in her, but her wishes and dreams have a lot of obstacles in their way. From family problems as her parents don't agree to all of her requests to a fallout with her best friend Lydia whom she sees to have betrayed her, Stacy goes through a lot.

This isn't Sunny’s first acting gig. We get to see her in many works including Lola in Sandy Wexler, Sunny in Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, Brooke in Home Team, and Gracie in The Out-Laws which is one of the films she appeared in without her father. She also acted in Jack and Jill, Grown Ups, Pixels, and Hustle. With this lead role, we can expect to see Sunny appear in more roles and have more screen time.

Adam Sandler as Danny Friedman

Adam Sandler plays the role of Danny Friedman, Stacy’s father, in You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah. Danny is faced with a lot of challenges as he tries to organize Stacy’s bat mitzvah and be there for her. This is no easy task due to Stacy’s many requests which are mostly expensive. Plus, he has to listen to all the drama in Stacy’s life. The audience gets to enjoy the father-daughter relationship between Danny and Stacy which definitely feels genuine as you see a glimpse of Sandler being a great father.

Who doesn't know at least one work of Sandler’s? The comedy icon has blessed us with many films that stole our hearts, and our breath because of laughter since he first started his acting career. Some of Sandler’s loved works include Just Go With It, The Wedding Singer, Anger Management, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, and the quite famous Uncut Gems.

These are just some titles of Sandler’s over 50 works and there are still many more to come in the future. Perhaps we will get to see the Sandler family in another work after You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah.

Jackie Sandler as Gabi Rodriguez Katz

Netflix

Another member of the Sandler family who we get to see in the film is Sandler’s wife, Jackie Sandler. Jackie plays the role of Gabi who is Lydia’s mother and also a family friend of the Friedmans family. You should expect to see the chemistry between Jackie and Sandler which makes the film even more great. In the film, Gabi is getting a divorce from Lydia’s father, but she is still there for her daughter as she prepares for her bat mitzvah.

When it comes to real life, Jackie and Sandler have been married since 2003 and since then they have appeared in some works together. Jackie isn't a stranger when it comes to acting as she has appeared in films other than You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah.

This is also not the first time we get to see husband and wife act together as we previously saw Jackie appear in Home Team, Hubie Halloween, The Week Of, and also Sandy Wexler. We also see Jackie in Daddy Daughter Trip, The Wrong Missy, The Last Summer, and Kevin Can Wait.

Sadie Sandler as Ronnie Friedman

Netflix

Sadie Sandler, Sandler’s eldest daughter, plays the role of Ronnie who is Stacy’s older sister. The relationship between Ronnie and Stacy is a typical one between any two sisters. There's a lot of teasing of course, but there is also continuous support offered by Ronnie to her youngest sister through everything she is going through.

Like her sister, Sadie has appeared in other works which were mostly with her dad, and it is always nice to see the Sandler family appear together. Other than You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah, Sadie appeared in Murder Mystery, The Wrong Missy, Hotel Transylvania 3, The Ridiculous 6, Hubie Halloween, and You Don't Mess with the Zohan.

Idina Menzel as Bree Friedman

Netflix

Other than the Sandler family, we have some actors who did an amazing job in Netflix’s latest film including Idina Menzel. Menzel plays the role of Bree Friedman who is Stacy and Ronnie’s mother and Danny’s wife. Like the entire Friedman family, Bree tries to help Stacy get ready for her bat mitzvah, but it isn't easy to do so with Stacy’s requests. The two of them find it difficult to agree on a lot of things including Stacy’s dress. She is somewhat strict, but she still cares about her family which is all that matters.

Menzel is known for many works including voicing Elsa in Frozen. Menzel also acted in Enchanted, Disenchanted, the musical Wicked which she won a Tony Award for, Kissing Jessica Stein, Rent, and American Murderer. She also played the role of Sandler's wife in Uncut Gems, so this won't be the first time the two of them act as a couple. We definitely can't wait to see Menzel in the upcoming film Frozen 3.

Samantha Lorraine as Lydia Rodriguez Katz

Netflix

We get to see Samantha Lorraine play the role of Lydia, Stacy’s best friend, in You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah. Despite being best friends at first, Lydia and Stacy’s friendship doesn't last long as they fall apart after Lydia develops a crush on the same boy Stacy likes.

Before this argument, we see how the two of them were excited about their bat mitzvah and planned them together. However, everything changes when Stacy knows about the crush plus the fact that Lydia also kissed him. Lydia even tries to fix things between her and Stacy, but Stacy isn't that excited to fix their friendship.

Lorraine may have not appeared in many works as most of the cast, but she is definitely making a name for herself and attracting eyes to her performances. Other roles of Lorraine include appearing in The Walking Dead: World Beyond, The Love Advisor, Kid Stew, and The Kid Who Only Hit Homers. We are definitely excited to see what else Lorraine would appear in.

Sarah Sherman as Rabbi Rebecca

Netflix

Sarah Sherman plays the role of Rabbi Rebecca, the spiritual advisor and Hebrew school instructor who helps Stacy on her journey toward her bat mitzvah. Her guidance does help Stacy in the midst of everything she is going through. Not only does she guide Stacy, but she also guides all the teens in the film through their b'nei mitzvahs. She is stern, but still fair as we see her lead the service at Stacy’s bat mitzvah.

Comedian Sherman is mostly known for her appearances in Saturday Night Live, but she did appear in some films and TV series as well as the comedy series Three Busy Debras. We also got to see Sherman in her first work with Netflix in the animated film Nimona. Other than acting, Sherman wrote for Jackass Forever.

Dylan Hoffman as Andy Goldfarb

Dylan Hoffman in You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah
Netflix

Dylan Hoffman plays the role of Andy Goldfarb who is the reason behind many of the problems in You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah. Andy is Stacy’s crush and also the reason for the fight that takes place between Stacy and Lydia and the end of their friendship.

Hoffman didn't appear in many works, but after his role as Andy we can expect to see him in more future works; let's just hope he won't break any hearts or ruin any friendships. You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah is Hoffman’s first film, but you can also see him in the TV series Next.

Luis Guzmán as Eli Katz

Netflix

The supporting cast of You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah includes Luis Guzmán who plays the role of Eli Katz. Eli is Lydia’s father and he is married to Gabi, but the two of them are getting a divorce.

Guzmán is definitely not new to the screen as he has a lot of fans who enjoy seeing him act. Perhaps his most famous recent project would be Netflix’s Wednesday due to the show’s immense success; he played the role of Gomez Addams. He also appears in Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love, Hightown, Ultra City Smiths, Shameless, Narcos, and Code Black.
