After Franchise Cast and Character Guide



The After franchise is a series of romance and teen drama films. Each of the films is based on the corresponding novel written by American author Anna Todd. The first film in the saga was released in 2019, since then, a new installment has been released every year until 2022. In addition, a new release is scheduled for mid-2023.






The plot of each film in the After franchise revolves around young Tessa Young and Hardin Scott. From the first film, the attraction between the two characters is evident. This leads them to develop a romantic relationship based on breakups and reconciliations throughout all the installments of the saga. The two struggle to get their relationship back on track as they try to build a future together.


During the films, a series of characters appear that help to develop the past and present lives of the protagonists. To prepare for the release of the next film in the franchise, After Everything, here are the characters you should know.





Arielle Kebbel as Kimberly

Arielle Kebbel plays Kimberly in the third and fourth film of the saga. Previously, the role was played by Candice King. Initially, she was a co-worker of Tessa's, until they became good friends. She has a friendly personality but is direct and blunt.


Kebbel has appeared in TV series such as The Vampire Diaries, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, CSI: Miami, and True Blood. Her best-known role is Olivia Charity in Midnight, Texas.



Louise Lombard as Trish Daniels

Louise Lombard is the actress who plays Trish Daniels from the second to the fourth film. Because of her relationship with Hardin's father, she carries many traumas. However, she's a loving, compassionate and warm mother. Besides loving her son very much, she also becomes good friends with Tessa.


Lombard has participated in many films, her role as Ruth in Oppenheimer being the most recent. She has also appeared in television series such as Metropolis, CSI, NCIS, The Mentalist, and Grimm.



Stephen Moyer as Christian Vance

In After We Fell, Stephen Moyer plays Christian Vance. Prior to that, the role was played by Charlie Weber. He's an educated, elegant, and charismatic man. From the second film on, he's Tessa's boss at her advertising agency. Later, an important connection between him and Hardin is discovered.



Moyer participated in several series such as Safe House, Killing Jesus, Phineas and Ferb, Waking the Dead, and Lilies. However, his most important performance to date is as Bill Compton in True Blood.



Khadijha Red Thunder as Steph Jones

Khadijha Red Thunder brought to life Tessa's best friend in college, Steph Jones. The character appeared in the first two films. She was a lively, party girl, so her personality complemented Tessa's personality. Khadijha has had a short-acting career. Her work in the After franchise is the best known. She also appeared in Kygo's Think About You music video.



Dylan Sprouse as Trevor Matthews

Dylan Sprouse plays Trevor Matthews in the second film of the After franchise, which is his only appearance. He's an intelligent man and a co-worker of Tessa. For a time, they establish a relationship that later breaks up because of Hardin. Sprouse is widely known for his role in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. He also appeared in the films Beautiful Disaster, Dismissed, and My Fake Boyfriend.



Rob Estes as Ken Scott

Rob Estes plays Ken Scott, Hardin's father, starting in the second installment of the franchise. Prior to that, the role was portrayed by Peter Gallagher. In the past, he was an alcoholic and an absentee father, being responsible for Hardin's traumas. He reformed his life and married Karen Scott.


Previously, Estes has appeared in films such as Hello Herman, Tailor Made Murder, and Edge of the Garden. He was also in TV shows such as Castle, CSI, The Evidence, and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.



Frances Turner as Karen Scott

Frances Turner plays Karen Scott, Landon Gibson's mom, in the third and fourth installment of the franchise. Prior to that, the role was played by Karimah Westbrook in the second film and Jennifer Beals in the first. This supporting character is a loving, devoted, and caring mother. She's willing to accept and help anyone to improve their life. As Hardin's stepmother, she was a good influence on him, helping him to constantly improve herself.



Before participating in the After franchise, Turner had already had several major roles. She participated in productions such as New Amsterdam, The Man in the High Castle, and Ghostbusters.



Mira Sorvino as Carol Young

Mira Sorvino played Tessa's mother, Carol Young, in the second two films of the franchise. She was previously played by Selma Blair. In all four installments, she's a loving but controlling mom who worries about her daughter's future. It's for that reason that she warns her that Hardin is no good for her and largely disapproves of their relationship. This is mainly because she thinks that this boy has the same behavior patterns as Tessa's absent father.


Mira is an American actress with an extensive career in the film and television industry. She has also appeared in series such as Falling Skies, House M.D., and The Great Gatsby. She also participated in the films Leningrad, Reservation Road, and The Grey Zone.



Chance Perdomo as Landon Gibson

In the second two installments of the saga, Chance Perdomo stars as Landon Gibson, although he was previously played by Shane McGhie. Throughout the four films, this young economics student becomes Tessa's best friend. He's a kind, helpful, loyal, intelligent, and innocent boy. He's the first to tell the young woman what she can expect from their relationship. In addition, he's seen comforting her during the lows in their courtship.


Perdomo made his television acting debut in 2017 as Henry in Hetty Feather. He has appeared in other TV series such as Midsomer Murder and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He's also known for his role as Jerome in the film Killed by My Debt.



Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Hardin Scott

Hero Fiennes Tiffin is the actor who plays Hardin Scott, Tessa's platonic love. He's presented as a simple, carefree, seemingly womanizing, partying, and rebellious guy. However, as the story progresses, his sensitive side is revealed. He confesses to Tessa that he is a fan of reading, especially poetry and romantic stories.


Hardin is a loving, thoughtful, and considerate boyfriend to Tessa. However, his carefree attitude is a facade that hides many insecurities, and he turns out to be a very jealous boyfriend; this is one of the main reasons for arguments. In addition, due to his difficult family past, he has traits of alcoholism and anger attacks in the present.


Hero's interpretation in the four After films is her most emblematic work. Before that, he participated in the sixth film of the Harry Potter franchise. There he played the young version of the main villain of the saga.



Josephine Langford as Tessa Young

The role of Theresa Young, better known as Tessa, is played by Australian actress Josephine Langford. Initially, she's presented as shy, reserved, intelligent, and dedicated to her studies. Her story begins when she starts college. There she'll meet her group of friends and her next great love, Hardin Scott. He has come into her life to give her a 180-degree turn.


With her university studies completed, Tessa starts working as an intern in an advertising agency. The girl tries to make her way in the working world while dealing with the ups and downs of her relationship. However, the requirements of her job represent an obstacle in her courtship with Hardin. Ultimately, she questions whether this guy is really what she wants for her life.


Another of Langford's best performances was in Moxie, a Netflix movie. There she played Emma Cunningham, a young feminist. Her most recognized work is her role as Tessa in the After franchise, and this performance earned her two accolades at the Teen Choice Awards and Just Jared Jr.'s Fan Awards in 2019.
