A backup file is like an insurance policy for your computer data and files. With an insurance policy, you will receive an insured amount if you lose your insured items. Similarly, a backup file will keep your computer data and files safe if you lose them for any reason i.e. corruption or accidental deletion. In general, backup is a technique or process of making duplicate copies of selected data and files on a system and all copies are stored in a file called a backup file.
