That said, here's a list of the best movies that are quintessential Generation Y.

10 No Idea (1995)

Ignorant
Paramount Pictures

If you looked Ignorant and wish you had Cher's iconic closet, you're not alone. This movie had such an impact on pop culture, like the phrase "as if!" and the yellow plaid pattern that made Cher famous. It had everything that makes a movie of this caliber perfect: an iconic cast, more than one storyline, a makeover edit and plenty of memorable outfits. Ignorant is a one-of-a-kind movie that would be hard to reboot, especially since Paul Rudd and Alicia Silverstone were quite the pair.

9 Titanic (1997)

Titanic
Paramount Pictures

The age-old question: Could Jack have babysat Rose's door? Unfortunately the answer is no. The influence of this film has lingered for decades. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio's performances are optional, as the pair quickly fall in love before Jack dies prematurely. There are so many memorable moments and scenes that fill this movie that will make you cry, laugh, and swoon as the movie progresses, and James Cameron does his thing as a great director.

A still from The Blairwitch Project

In 1999, The Blair Witch Project was advertised as a documentary, and people actually believed this was a true story when they went to the theater. Missing persons posters were posted as the film's release approached. News clips were found of the campers' story of disappearing into the woods, so it's clear how people thought it was a true story. It changed the game for found footage movies, as the entire movie was shot from multiple viewpoints, immersing you in the horrible experience the group went through. You can't forget the sheer terror you experience when the camera sees Mike standing in the corner of the abandoned house.

A cult classic that focuses on competitive cheerleading, cheers from this film are copied for real competition. Bring it on was released in 2000 and was perfectly nestled among the comedy/romantic movies that appealed to audiences at the time. Parody movies were all the rage, but this wasn't quite the parody as it was flashy and funny, riding on slightly offensive humor and genuine cheer techniques.

Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are the ultimate pairing that set the stage for the huge franchise that would follow, and the first film is so groundbreaking because car enthusiasts finally had a reason to go to the movies. Really, the plot has taken several twists and turns over the years, but The Fast and the Furious has one of the best storylines as the new family settles in and lets Dom know it's all about family.

Super bad is a party movie that, despite how raunchy the humor is, has a lot of heart, making up for some of the offensive gags. It is one of the best movies to be part of the millennial generation because of the real story: two high school best friends want to throw a big party to lose their virginity before graduation. The film was based on the lives of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who co-wrote the film and used real life examples to give the film real heart.
