10 MCU heroes powerful enough to fight Kang in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be released in theaters in May 2025, coming six years after the previous Avengers film, Avengers: endgame opened in theaters. While the Marvel movie universe has continued to move forward and introduced many new heroes, there has been no official Avengers team in the franchise, and many projects have raised the question of whether the Avengers are still around. They will surely have to reunite when Kang the Conqueror and his many variants begin to attack the MCU.

It's safe to say that to time Avengers: The Kang Dynasty opens in theaters, it will be more akin to Avengers: Infinite War which not only featured the Avengers team, but also heroes such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy. By the time The Kang Dynasty arrives, the MCU will have The Fantastic Four, the Eternals, Thunderbolts, and possibly the Young Avengers to take on Kang. But with that in mind, which heroes should band together to fight Kang among the Avengers team?

While there are some obvious choices, from old members like Hulk and Thor to powerful heroes like Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange, it would be more interesting to unite heroes who are both relatively new to the franchise but also don't have much history with each other. That follows the structure of the original The Avengers, uniting heroes from different franchises who didn't know each other against a powerful foe. With that in mind, here are the ten heroes who should band together to fight Kang the Conqueror.

10 Moon Knight

Moon Knight so far in his own corner of the MCU, removed from much of the main story as his series has no direct connection to the wider franchise. That makes him perfectly suited to join the Avengers and take on Kang the Conqueror, since part of the appeal behind making Avengers projects is taking characters from different angles and mashing them together, even if it seems like they don't belong.

Moon Knight gives the team a clear supernatural advantage and his connection to the Egyptian god Khonshu may also have a connection to the Kang variant Rama-Tut who once ruled ancient Egypt.

9 Spider-Man

Spider-Man is the most famous Marvel superhero out there, and if there's an Avengers movie, it's a safe bet that Marvel will put him in the movie. Currently, the only factor making sure Spider-Man is certain is the fact that Sony and Marvel Studios have to make a deal for the character to appear, and despite Spider-Man: No Way Homes huge box office hit, it's been over a year since that movie came out and nothing has been said about a new Spider-Man movie yet.

There are rumors that the previous Spider-Man Tom Holland may have signed a new deal and will make an appearance Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Spider-Man is arguably one of the best heroes to take on Kang as he has already had his own multiversal adventure and his knowledge of other variants could be a key factor in helping the Avengers learn about defeating the Kang -dynasty.

8 Werewolf at night

Who could have guessed when Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was announced at Comic-Con in 2022 that a fan-favorite hero in the MCU would be Jack Russell, aka Werewolf at night? While the Werewolf by Night Halloween special was rumored to be announced, Disney didn't officially announce it until D23 the following month. Often an obscure character in Marvel Comics often eclipsed in popularity by Moon Knight, Blade, and Ghost Rider, Werewolf by Night broke out as an instant favorite due to his appearance in this special.

The character is unattached to future projects, but Werewolf by Night would need to be upgraded as one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes to defeat Kang. His human persona Jack Russell has shown to be a kind, compassionate individual who could provide the Avengers with a perspective from anyone, while his werewolf form could provide the unleashed raw power that The Hulk brought to the original team.

7 Black Panther

Shuri stepped into the role of Black Panther and protector of Wakanda Black Panther: Wakanda Forever after the tragic passing of her brother T'Challa due to the real life death of star Chadwick Boseman. Shuri is a very different Black Panther from her brother and one still learning exactly how to be a hero.

Shuri would certainly provide the technical know-how to take on a villain like Kang the Conqueror. The Black Panther mantle has always been an important part of the Avengers lineup in the comics and that should be reflected in the MCU.

6 Wasp

Wasp already has to deal with Kang the Conqueror because of their fight Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania so she is currently the hero best equipped to take on him, as she already has a general idea of what he is capable of. Wasp is a skilled fighter and scientist, and the Ant-Man movies have shown her to be a more capable hero than Scott Lang's Ant-Man on multiple occasions.

Ant-Man has been given quite a bit of time to shine in the MCU, so it's time to put the spotlight on Wasp. Wasp was dusted Avengers: endgame so Ant-Man acted solo, and it would be a nice reverse Avengers: The Kang Dynasty if Ant-Man was absent and Wasp was allowed to leave on her own apart from Ant-Man. The Wasp mantle has strong ties to the Avengers in the comics and has even been the leader of the team at various points, so it would be fitting for Wasp to help assemble a new team of heroes to counter the threat of Kang and combat its variants.

5 Captain America

Sam Wilson as Captain America

Captain America is an important part of the MCU, and Steve Rogers passed the mantle to Sam Wilson, who won the title at the end of The falcon and the winter soldier and will lead Captain America: New World Order.

In many ways, Sam Wilson is both a long-standing legacy hero in the MCU and he's also in the spotlight as a new hero so he could take on the role of a new Avengers team leader. Like Steve Rogers who only faces Thanos, Sam Wilson has the courage and heart to face Kang the Conqueror, even if he is the last one standing.

4 name

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Marvel Studios
disney

While name was the opponent of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, in the comics, the character is traditionally an anti-hero and has fought alongside the superheroes of the Marvel Universe whenever a threat arises. Namor's power levels are close to The Hulk's and could be as strong as Thor, which would make him a worthy opponent to take on Kang. Still, the ideological differences between Kang and Namor make for the most interesting conflict.

Namor has spent his life trying to protect his people from the threat of invasion, only to be conquered in the same way as his mother's people. His hatred of the surface world and his near-declaration of war against them are rooted in genuine fear of colonization. Kang the Conqueror, as his name implies, is the ultimate colonizer and will take over or destroy civilizations when he sees it. A conflict between Namor and Kang is essentially a fight between two leaders who will not bow to the other.

3 She Hulk

She Hulk is probably the most well-defined new character in the MCU, as her Disney+ series spent a lot of time developing Jennifer Walters' personality, her wants and desires, and her relationship to the wider MCU universe. She has recently been stepped up as both a lawyer and a superhero and the arrival of Kang the Conqueror may be the time to show her true power. She's one of the strongest characters in the MCU, so she'd give the team the brawn they need, but also bring a sense of levity to the team that brought Tony Stark to the previous team outings.

2 Mrs. Marvel

Mrs. Marvel is just a normal teenager thrown into the crazy world of superheroes in her own Disney+ series and upcoming feature film The miracles. This is one person who has fantasized about superheroes all her life, so it would be incredibly rewarding to see her officially join The Avengers to take down Kang the Conqueror.

Even if Marvel doesn't have the Kang variant of Ms. Marvel named Kamala Kang (but it really should), Kamala Khan should be a major part of both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty And Avengers: Secret Wars. She said in her series, "It's not really the brown girls from Jersey City saving the world," which could come full circle in the MCU's future by having Ms. Marvel be one of the heroes saving the multiverse .

1 Shan Chi

Shang-Chi movie
Marvel Studios
disney

Shan Chi is arguably the most important hero in the Multiverse Saga. He was the first new solo hero in the entire Multiverse Saga and his film's director, Destin Daniel Cretton, will direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. That makes Shang-Chi's inclusion in the film the closest thing to a sure thing.

Shang-Chi is now in possession of the Ten Rings which may be related to Kang the Conqueror due to their ancient history. Shang-Chi may not have traditional superpowers and is just a skilled fighter without the rings, but it's that factor that makes him the perfect Avengers. You don't need super powers, anyone from any background can be a hero if the heart is in the right place.
