10 Hilarious Comedies You Can Stream on Tubi Right Now

Horrorcomedies give viewers the best of both worlds. The audience gets all the fun of a dark, spooky world to get lost it. Still, things are still light enough that the viewer can get a good laugh here and there. That said, they come in different forms. Some are dark comedies while others directly parody popular horror movies. In fact, some viewers could see if they're ready for a horror movie by watching the parody of it first.

The Tubi streaming service offers a lot of horror comedies that viewers can pick up. The best part is that these films can be watched for free and from the comfort of the watchers' own home. Some of these films are classics that have built up cult followings over the years. Others are more recent fare. Many of these films are also star-studded events, while others prove an indie film can have a lot of charm.

10 A Haunted House (2013)

A Haunted House sees a couple, Malcolm and Kisha, move into a new house together. When Kisha starts to fear the house is haunted, Malcolm tries to prove otherwise with security cameras. However, he soon starts to notice supernatural goings-on and tries to either leave or exorcise the house. Soon, it comes to light that Kisha made a deal with the devil for some Louboutins.

The Very Last Exorcism

The film takes on the "found footage" genre, particularly The Devil Inside and Paranormal Activity. The joke is that characters don't necessarily act like they do in typical horror films. Malcolm initially tries to see the house when he learns it's haunted, for instance, but the market gets in his way. The film was later followed up with A Haunted House 2.

9 Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)

Killer Klowns from Outer Space sees a group of clown-like aliens, known as "Klowns," invading Earth. They might use toy-like weapons and seal people away with cotton candy traps, but the Klowns are dangerous, abducting people to harvest their blood. In a parody of 1950s B movies, a group of friends and a cop have to stop them.

The Greatest Show on Earth...Just Not *of* Earth

The title was intentionally over-the-top, as it was worried that audiences would mistakenly think the film was a straight slasher film. The movie is notably the only film written and directed by the Chiodo Brothers, three special effects artists, who also worked on the makeup and effects for the film with other artists. Becoming something of a cult classic, there has been interest in producing sequels or even a television series over the years. However, these projects have been in development hell for years.

8 Jennifer's Body (2009)

In Jennifer's Body, insecure Needy is best friends with the popular but dominating Jennifer. However, things take a turn after Jennifer attends a concert by an indie band. Soon, Jennifer becomes possessed and starts killing and eating the boys at school. It falls into Needy's hands to find out just what happened to Jennifer and stop the killings once and for all.

She's Evil... & Not Just High School Evil

While the film is meant as a horror comedy, the story makes sure to include typical slasher elements, especially towards the end. That said, the film still has quite a few lines, especially Jennifer's. The film also became well-known through a meme in which Bill Fagerbakke's character threatens to cut off someone's "nutsack," if only because Fagerbakke is the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants' own Patrick Star.

7 Creepshow 2 (1987)

Much like the first film, Creepshow 2 is a horror comedy anthology adapting the work of Stephen King: "Old Chief Wood'nhead," "The Raft," and "The Hitchhiker." In the framing device, a young boy, Billy, picks up an issue of Creepshow as the stories unfold. However, he soon gets pursued by bullies, all the while being watched over by the Creep.

When the Curtain Goes up, the Terror Begins

The film employs a bit of dark comedy at times, notably Billy's revenge on the bullies who've pursued him throughout the story. King himself notably appears as a trucker in "The Hitchhiker" segment. Reportedly, the movie was also going to be longer, though one cut story, "Cat from Hell," was later incorporated into Tales from the Darkside: The Movie.

6 The Witches of Eastwick (1987)

Based on the John Updike book of the same name, The Witches of Eastwick revolves around three friends who are unaware that they are witches. Having lost their husbands in different ways, the three, Alex, Jane, and Sukie, regularly meet with each other. However, the supernatural becomes more obvious when a mysterious man, Daryl, moves into the town.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

The movie features a notable cast, including Jack Nicholson, Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer. The film has also become well-known from a sequence in which Cher's character Alex's rants to Daryl, Nicholson's character after he tries to seduce her. During the scene, Alex lists off a large number of his faults, summing it all up with, "You're not even interesting enough to make me sick."

5 Meet the Blacks (2016)

In Meet the Blacks, the Black family are moving out of Chicago, with father Carl wanting to leave his previous life as a hustler behind. They soon arrive in Beverly Hills. However, it turns out they've arrived just in time for the annual purge, in which all crime is temporarily legal.

Just When You Thought It Was Safe to Move to Beverly Hills...

Mostly serving as a parody of The Purge, the film ended up doing well at the box office, earning $9 million on a budget of less than one million. The film also inspired a sequel, The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2. This time, in a nod to Fright Night, the Black family returns to Carl's childhood home and encounter a pimp who might just be a vampire.

4 The Love Witch (2016)

Elaine of The Love Witch is a beautiful witch who wants to start a new life in a new, witch-friendly town after the death of her husband. Wanting to find a new love, she casts a spell. Soon, she encounters Wayne, a local college professor. However, he dies soon after and he won't be the last. Meanwhile, an officer investigating Wayne's disappearance finds himself falling for Elaine.

Til Death Do We Part...

The Love Witch is famous for its technicolor aesthetic, though this undercuts the dark story. Keeping with this, the film likes to present an atmosphere straight out of the 1960s, but little jokes reveal the story is actually contemporary, like a character using a modern phone. All in all, it's a film known for creating its own bizarre little world.

3 Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008)

Repo! The Genetic Opera combines a lot of elements, being a gothic rock opera and a dark comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously. An outbreak of organ failures has plagued the world, inspiring a massive organ harvest. People who can't afford organ payments risk dealing with organ repo men.

Not Your Parents' Opera

One such repo man finds himself keeping his daughter Shilo, who suffers from a rare blood disease from the world. Meanwhile, the biotech company running the organ transplants takes an interest in Shilo.

The film has developed a cult following over the years, who often compare it to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The film also boasts a notable cast list including Anthony Stewart Head, Alexa Vega, Sarah Brightman, and Paris Hilton, with many viewers notably being surprised by Hilton's performance.

2 Goosebumps (2015)

Inspired by R. L. Stine's famous line of children's horror books, Goosebumps tells a story revolving around Stine himself, as played by Jack Black. He must join forces with his daughter Hannah and a few local kids when his famous stories start coming to life. Of course, not all of Stine's creations turn out to be bad guys.

The Stories Come Alive

While filled to the brim with references to the books, fans have had mixed feelings about the film. Thanks to some liberties taken with the book characters, some fans even joked it was a movie about the book covers, and not the stories coming to life. The real R. L. Stine also notably appears in the film as a drama teacher, Mr. Black.

The movie later inspired a sequel, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, which once again saw Black play Stine. In 2023, the Goosebumps books would also inspire a horror comedy teen drama of the same name.

1 Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988)

Elvira: Mistress of the Dark is a film starring the famous horror hostess, as famously played by Cassandra Peterson. Elvira wants to headline her own show in Las Vegas, but needs money to fund the project. However, she soon learns that she's recently inherited her late aunt's estate. Arriving in Massachusetts, she finds herself becoming the town's pariah. The real trouble, however, is her uncle Vincent, a scheming warlock, who wants to find her aunt's spellbook.

Elvira Makes Her Big Scream Debut

Elvira might have to use some magic of her own to come out on top, as long as she avoids getting burnt as a witch beforehand. Peterson's Elvira always brings her iconic wit when she appears and this movie is no exception. The film is filled with shout-outs and fourth-wall-breaking jokes. In the end, Elvira does get her happy ending, complete with her Las Vegas show.
