We will examine the current cast and the confirmed characters in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

5 Anya Taylor-Joy as Imperator Furiosa

Anya Taylor-Joy has become a cinema darling thanks to her outstanding roles in films such as The Menu, The Northman, and Last Night in Soho. In addition, Taylor-Joy has excelled in TV, playing Beth Harmon in The Queen's Gambit and Gina Gray in Peaky Blinders. Taylor's inclusion in the Mad Max canon is undoubtedly welcome and a testament to the actor's versatility and the cool persona she has built around picking memorable roles throughout her career.

Anya Taylor-Joy plays the titular Furiosa in Furisoa: A Mad Max Saga, a character initially introduced in Mad Max Fury Road and played by Charlize Theron. The movie will be an original story and act as a new chapter in the Mad Max universe. While Furiosa in Fury Road was already a hardened warrior, this will showcase the character's vulnerabilities as she grows into the revered Imperator Furiosa. This is Anya Taylor-Joy's first action-heavy role.

Anya Taylor-Joy has not yet spoken at length about Furiosa, but she has expressed her gratitude for the role and specifically working with director George Miller; in an interview with Variety, she said, “That brain is incredible. I feel so lucky and privileged to spend time with him, and to grow alongside him. I’m also really excited to do something physical. To physically become something else is something that will weirdly give me a lot of peace. I’m quite excited to work hard.”

4 Chris Hemsworth as Warlord Dementus

Chris Hemsworth has become synonymous with Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to his action-hero physique combined with sharp comedic timing when donning the hammer. Beyond the MCU, Hemsworth has played notable roles, such as Tyler Rake in the two Netflix original films, Extraction and Extraction II, and James Hunt in Ron Howard's Rush.

Chris Hemsworth's Warlord Dementus was heavily featured in the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga trailer, implying he will play a crucial role in the movie. Dementus is the leader of a bike gang and has been described as a charismatic yet ruthless warlord with a powerful army of followers.

Speaking at CCXP, Hemsworth had this to say about his character; "He’s a violent, insane, brutal person that is born from the wasteland. He’s a product of his environment. There’s an intensity to him… he has been birthed into a space where it’s kill or be killed, and he has learned to rule with an iron fist. There’s a charisma to him, and it’s a very manipulative charisma."
