For years, love triangles have been a very common theme explored in many romantic comedies. However, as interesting and dramatic as these narratives might inherently feel, for the main lead, it's always a tough call having to choose between two people they are close to, constantly re-thinking and re-considering if they are making the right choice. Of course, it's basically a rule of love triangles that someone will lose the person they love. Whatever the scenario may be, audiences love rom-coms that spotlight a love triangle, and the twists and turns they bring.
If you are a fan of love triangle stories, you might like Brainstorm Media's upcoming new release, The Other Zoey. The film arrives in select U.S. theaters and on Prime Video on October 20. It follows Zoey Miller, a college student who initially has no interest in or time for romance, but soon finds herself at the center of a love triangle. On one hand, there's Zach, whose temporary amnesia causes him to mistake Zoey for his actual girlfriend. On the other hand, there's Miles, Zach's cousin, whom Zoey develops feelings for as they get to know each other.
Feeling torn between the two men, Zoey is forced to confront her feelings and make a difficult decision. Directed by Sara Zandieh, the film is filled with family drama, comedy, and romance, and features a beloved cast of intriguing characters. Let's take a closer look.
Josephine Langford as Zoey Miller
After depicting Tessa Young in the After film series, Josephine Langford is back to play another central character named Zoey Miller in The Other Zoey. Zoey is a brilliant computer major student who thinks she knows all about love until her life takes a dramatic turn when she unexpectedly falls for two men, Zach and Miles.
Outside of her After fame, Langford has also starred in other movies like Wish Upon, Moxie, and Gigi & Nate. Her acting career started young, during which she initially was involved in several short films and also some minor roles in television series like Wolf Creek, Into the Dark, and Day by Day.
Drew Starkey as Zac Maclaren
Drew Starkey was last seen playing Trevor, the boyfriend of Odessa A'zion's Riley Mckendry, in the supernatural horror movie Hellraiser. In The Other oey, he will take on the role of Zach MacLaren, a famous collegiate soccer heartthrob who suffers from amnesia and mistakes Zoey for his girlfriend, who also happens to have the same name as her.
Previously, Starkey starred in another notable rom-com, Love, Simon, and will also be starring in Luca Guadagnino's upcoming Queer. He is best known for his works in The Devil All the Time, Outer Banks, Just Mercy, Ozark, and Scream: Resurrection.
Archie Renaux as Miles
Archie Renaux will portray Miles MacLaren, who is Zach's cousin and is seemingly attracted to Zoey because of their shared interests. Renaux is a man of various talents; prior to becoming an actor, he used to work full-time as an air conditioning engineer and later transitioned to a modeling career. He officially started his Hollywood acting career by appearing in the Hanna series as Feliciano.
When it comes to film, Renaux has starred in several projects like Morbius, Voyagers, Catherine Called Birdy, and The Greatest Beer Run Ever. Aside from the miniseries Gold Digger, he currently plays the major role of Mal in Netflix's fantasy TV series Shadow and Bone.
Heather Graham as Paula
Heather Graham will be playing Zoey's mother, Paula, in The Other Zoey. During her school plays, Graham developed an interest in acting, which is why she dropped out of the University of California, Los Angeles, to become an actress. In the beginning, she used to star in several television commercials and do small roles until she landed a role in Greg Beeman's License to Drive.
Since 1984, Graham consistently added impressive projects to her filmography, including Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, The Hangover, Twin Peaks, Boogie Nights, Desperados, Scrubs, Law & Order True Crime, Sidewalks of New York, and others.
Andie MacDowell as Connie Maclaren
Andie MacDowell will take on the role of Zach's mother, Connie. Initially, MacDowell's career began with modeling; she used to appear in ad campaigns for big brands like Armani, Vassarette, Calvin Klein, and others. Soon, her talent in commercials grabbed the attention of filmmakers, and that's how she landed her first film, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzans, Lord of the Apes.
Since then, MacDowell has appeared in various films and television series, including Maid, Green Card, Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Groundhog Day, Cedar Cave, Short Cuts, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and others.
Patrick Fabian as Matt Maclaren
Patrick Fabian will play Matt MacLaren, Zach's father. He commenced his acting career by making a brief appearance in television series like Bodies of Evidence, Silk Stalkings, and Beverly Hills, 90210. Fabian then made his feature-length debut as Riverdancer in Jim Abrahams' Jane Austen's Mafia!.
He is most popularly known for playing Howard Hamlin, a cocky and professional lawyer and managing partner at his dad's co-founded firm, Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill, in Better Call Saul. Other renowned works of his also include End Game, Pig, The Last Exorcism, Time of Your Life, and Valentine.
Other Cast and Characters
Mallori Johnson, who has starred in Kindred and We Crash, will be depicting Elle, Zoey's best friend. The movie will also feature Maggie Thurmon, a multi-talented internet personality who is armed with several talents like acting, singing, podcasting, and making videos on social media platforms. After starring in a handful of short films, she will be making her feature debut as Zoey Wallace, the real girlfriend of Zach. Amalia Yoo (No Hard Feelings) as Becca also joins the cast.
