Recent years have witnessed the growth of artificial intelligence at a rapid speed. While its usefulness and benefits can be numerous, one cannot remain blind to it replacing humans in different sectors, and its increased misuse. The ultimate showdown between AI and humans has already begun at a corporate level in the 21st Century, but what scares us the most is the horrifying possibility of AI's power being put to the wrong use to wage wars and disrupt harmony.






The Creator shows us the harsh side of the creation of AI, which has now left the world divided. From the director of Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Gareth Edwards, this sci-fi movie illustrates a dangerous future war between humans and artificial intelligence. Former Special Forces Agent Joshua and his team are sent to perilous enemy territory to track down the Creator, who has developed a secret AI weapon that wields the power to wipe out the existence of humans. ​​​​Joshua is a tough former Special Forces Agent, who hasn't gotten over her wife's disappearance and is tasked with finding the Creator, who has a mysterious weapon that can end the war and destroy humanity. Played by John David Washington, the actor originally opted for a football career and was an undrafted free agent for the St. Louis Rams. Since 2009, he started playing for the Sacramento Mountain Lions (formerly called the California Redwoods) at the UFL (United Football League) until the league folded. From there, he transitioned to acting, with his first show being the HBO series Ballers. He has also starred in films like BlacKkKlansman, Amsterdam, Malcolm & Marie, and Tenet.



Ken Watanabe As Harun

Ken Watanabe portrays Harun in The Creator, who looks like a part of the A.I. army. After gaining recognition for his role in the play Shimodani Mannencho Monogatari in the late-1970s, Watanabe made his TV debut in Michinaru Hanran. Throughout his illustrious career, he has been widely known for playing samurai and tragic hero characters. Following his film debut in 1984 with MacArthur's Children, he went on to play many versatile roles in the Japanese film industry, effectively earning him three nominations at the Japanese Academy Awards in the Best Actor category.


In 2003, Watanabe made his Hollywood debut as Lord Katsumoto in The Last Samurai, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He has been a part of blockbuster movies like Batman Begins, Godzilla, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, and Transformers: Age of Extinction.



Gemma Chan as Maya

​​Gemma Chan takes on the role of Maya in The Creator, who is the missing wife of Joshua. Born and brought up in London, after graduating from university, Chan received an opportunity to work with a law firm, but rejected it due to her passion for acting. She commenced her career with a miniseries called When Evil Calls as Molly Nelson. In her early-career days, Chan played minor and supporting roles in projects like Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Sherlock, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Doctor Who, and Transformers: The Last Knight.


Chan got her breakthrough role in Crazy Rich Asians, where she played Astrid, who was popularly known for her good fashion sense. She has also portrayed multiple characters in the MCU, first Minn Erva in Captain Marvel and then Sersi in Eternals. Other renowned projects of hers include Humans, Let Them All Talk, Don't Worry Darling, Mary: Queen of Scots, and Raya and the Last Dragon.

Allison Janney plays Colonel Howell in The Creator. Prior to becoming an actor, Janney wished to be a figure skater, but due to unfortunate circumstances, her dream remained unfulfilled, and she later went on to pursue acting. She made her professional acting debut in the 1990s with a comedy series called Morton & Hayes and continued playing uncredited and minor roles in different projects. The NBC series The West Wing brought her immense fame for playing C.J. Cregg, the White House press secretary, which scored her two Primetime Emmy Awards.


Janney has also been a part of numerous Off-Broadway and Broadway productions like Ladies 1989, Present Laughter, 9 to 5, A View From The Bridge, New England, and others. Her impressive filmography consists of works like American Beauty, I, Tonya, The Addams Family, Mr. Sunshine, Mom, Bombshell, and Juno.

Sturgill Simpson portrays Drew, who fights in the A.I. war alongside Joshua. At first, Simpson wasn't serious about his musical career, as he considered it just a hobby, but his family's encouragement led him to take his passion for music seriously. During his early days, he took part in open mic nights and joined the Sunday Valley band, until the group disbanded, which resulted in him starting a solo music career.


Simpson has launched seven albums under his name, of which A Sailor's Guide to Earth received the Best Country Album award at the 59th Grammy Awards. Soon, he entered the film industry, too, and starred in an indie film called Orca Park. Following his debut, he has also appeared in films and TV series like The Dead Don't Die, The Hunt, Materna, The Righteous Gemstone, One Dollar, and others. He will also be a part of the upcoming Martin Scorsese film, Killers of the Flower Moon.



Madeline Yuna Voyles as Alfie

Madeline Yuna Voyles brings to life Alfie, who is a young child in the form of an A.I. and also a weapon of mass destruction. It has the ability to put an end to war and destroy humanity. She will play a very crucial role in The Creator, which also marks her professional acting debut in the Hollywood industry.


Though still a very young age, Yuna Voyles has already recognized her passion in the arts field and decided to pursue acting. According to Edwards, there were a lot of audition tapes from all around the world, but they found their Alfie in Yuna Voyles; he described her casting as "a director's dream" and was impressed with how she effortlessly pulled off an amazing performance (via Collider).

Ralph Ineson

Ralph Ineson, playing General Andrews, is notably known for his roles in the Harry Potter franchise, The Office, Game of Thrones, Chernobyl, and The Witch. Ozark actor Marc Menchaca and Star Wars: The Last Jedi actress Veronica Ngo will be taking on the roles of McBride and Kami, respectively. Michael Esper, who is renowned for his stage work, will be playing Captain Cotton. He has also appeared in well-known films and TV series like A Beautiful Mind, Beau is Afraid, Law & Order, and The Family.


The Creator will arrive in theaters on September 29, 2023.
