Saw X Cast and Character Guide

Saw returns for its tenth installment, gathering a talented cast made of iconic actors of the franchise and introducing new faces. Taking advantage of the franchise's nostalgic value and the traditional setting of the first movies, Saw X takes place between the events of Saw and Saw II and is centered around an enraged John Kramer fueled by a newfound purpose. Frustrated by his unsuccessful cancer treatment and a group of doctors who seem determined to make it worse, he decides to come up with new painful, ingenious traps.

Following the method of horror franchises from the 80s such as Friday the 13th and Halloween and releasing a new film almost every year, the Saw franchise started with a humble short movie by James Wan and evolved into one of the most profitable horror series of its time, despite hardly changing the formula over the years. Here's your cast and character guide to Saw X.

Tobin Bell as John Kramer / Jigsaw

Lionsgate Films

John Kramer, the primary man behind Saw's complex and gut-wrenching traps, is played by Tobin Bell. Also known as Jigsaw, Kramer began to see the world differently after a cancer diagnosis, believing his traps would help fix lazy, sinful people to learn how to appreciate life. He's the franchise's main antagonist and the face of Saw, influencing the story even when he's not the one pulling the strings.

While Jigsaw eternalized Bell as a major horror icon, the actor's career is much more versatile than one might anticipate. Bell starred in movies such as Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas, Sophie's Choice, Mississippi Burning, and Malice. Despite claiming he's not as big a fan of the horror genre as the Saw audience, per Forbes, Bell took part in other horror projects such as 12 Feet Deep, Belzebuth, and The Call.

Shawnee Smith as Amanda Young

She started off as a victim of the terrifying reverse bear trap, then became one of Jigaw's closest accomplices and a chilling antagonist. It goes without saying that Smith's role in Saw was a turning point in her career, and she became a key character of the franchise and a fan favorite. Her return in Saw X symbolizes the movie is taking Saw back to its roots, throwing back to the start of Amanda's descent into madness.
