World War Z Cast: Where They Are Today

Though the film was based on a 2006 book written by Max Brooks, World War Z came out during the peak time of the most recent dystopian movie and series era. With shows such as The Walking Dead and franchises like The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner being thrown at audiences, who would not want to see another version of the world gone chaotically wrong? Brad Pitt stars in this apocalyptic horror film as a great father who is simply trying to save his family from the peculiar outbreak that is turning people into zombies. The plot is packed with action, and there are several instances where you will find yourself holding your breath along with the characters in anticipation.

Since the movie's release in 2013, all the actors have gone on to live more successful and "normal" lives in comparison to how their characters ended things. Check out what the cast of World War Z has worked on since they were fighting off zombies and where they are today.

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt has been a household name for some time now. People typically either know him for a couple dozen of his movies, his previous marriage to Angelina Jolie, or his status as one of the most attractive men in Hollywood. In 2013, the same year his highest-grossing movie, World War Z, was released, Pitt also produced and played a part in 12 Years a Slave. He also held roles in Deadpool, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Lost City, and Bullet Train.

However, after Pitt got sober in 2016, he found himself behind the camera more often than in front of it. His production company, Plan B Entertainment, has supported movies like Beautiful Boy, Blonde, and the limited television series The Underground Railroad. Pitt's latest projects include Beetlejuice 2 (production only) and a new thriller film written by Jon Watts entitled Wolves.

Mireille Enos

Mireille Enos in World War Z
Paramount Pictures

Before Mireille Enos was defending her daughters against flesh-eating zombies in World War Z, she was best known for her role as detective Sarah Linden in the drama series The Killing. Out of her seven award nominations, she received six for her part in the crime drama series — the seventh was for her role in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Something about her looks, talent, or personal preference seems to constantly draw Enos back to the drama and action genres.

Since World War Z, Enos has starred in films such as If I Stay, The Lie, and Miranda's Victim. As for television series, she has held the main role in Hanna, Good Omens, and Lucky Hank. When it comes to her personal life, fans find it heartwarming that, in 2008, Enos married Alan Ruck (who played Cameron in Ferris Bueller's Day Off), and they have two children together.

Sterling Jerins

World War Z Sequel Gets The Orphanage Director Juan Antonio Bayona

World War Z was Sterling Jerins' breakout film, and though she was not on-screen the majority of the time, her portrayal of the terrified younger daughter made an impact. In the same year, Jerins appeared in The Conjuring, and she went on to continue her role in the following two movies of the franchise. In 2015, Jerins played Owen Wilson and Lake Bell's daughter in yet another action-packed film, No Escape.

Since her main role in the television series, The Divorce, Jerins has kept a bit of a low profile. Her Instagram appears fairly normal for a young adult who recently graduated from high school. Overall, fans hope to see Jerins in bigger and more predominant roles.

Abigail Hargrove

World War Z - Rachel Lane
Paramount Pictures

Before she was Rachel Lane in World War Z, Abigail Hargrove had a small role in the short independent film, The Butterfly Circus. Afterward, Hargrove starred in The Firebird, where she plays a curious young girl who is more in touch with nature than she ever imagined. For the most part, Hargrove has stayed out of the spotlight. Like Jerins, she has taken more to social media.

In her Twitter bio, Hargrove considers herself a "follower of Jesus, actor, singer, mildly allergic to pistachios." She definitely has a sense of humor and appears genuine in her praiseful posts. As of right now, it does not seem like Hargrove is working on anything, but we do hope to see her name on the big screen again some day.

Fabrizio Guido

Though many may not know his name yet, Fabrizio Guido has been making waves in his career. In the same year Guido was able to watch his own performance in World War Z, he also played Demetrio Hernandez in Welcome to the Family, where two families are forced to interact due to a young couple's pregnancy. Guido took a break from acting for a few years, but he came back with full force in 2018 as the director and executive producer of his very first short film, Dog Days.

His most recent works include directing the sci-fi short The Train and starring alongside the great Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias as Mikey Gutierrez in the television series Mr. Iglesias. It seems like Guido has a good handle on what he wants to do in the business; he just needs a big break in an adult role.

Daniella Kertesz

World War Z - Daniella Kertesz
Paramount Pictures

To get ready for her role as an officer in the Israeli Defense Forces in World War Z, all Daniella Kertesz had to do was look back at what her father and brother had done in real life. Originally from Jerusalem, Israel, Kertesz found her footing in the entertainment industry while overseas. She had roles in a few different shows until coming to the States and landing the part of Segen alongside one of the biggest actors in the business.

Since her days fighting off zombies, Kertesz starred in AfterDeath, and she held a part in the Israeli television series, Shtisel. As of right now, Kertesz maintains a more private life, but fans do expect her to make a comeback in more blockbuster films.

Fana Mokoena

Paramount Pictures

Before his role in World War Z, fans knew Fana Mokoena from his roles in films like Hotel Rwanda, Machine Gun Preacher, and Safe House. Shortly after his time as the man who essentially saves Pitt's character, Mokoena took a break from the film industry to return to South Africa and focus on politics. He was a part of the National Council of Provinces for near three years until he left and was appointed a member of the National Assembly in 2016.

He founded the company Praise Poet Pictures, and in 2021, Mokoena held a lead role in the South African soap opera Scandal! As of right now, Mokoena seems to have his hands full, but fans do not believe they've seen the last of this talented man.

James Badge Dale

James Badge Dale in World War Z
Paramount Pictures

James Badge Dale is no stranger to the hustle of Hollywood. Before strapping on some apocalyptic gear for World War Z, Dale was best known for his roles on the television shows 24 and The Pacific. As for films, some may recognize Dale from his younger days when he played Simon in Lord of the Flies or his 2013 appearance in Iron Man 3 as Eric Savin.

Dale has been a part of some bit hits with bigger names, but he for the most part, he has kept a steady line of work. As of right now, Dale is set to be a part of the delayed thriller film, Rebel Ridge, and he is working on the third season of the TV series Hightown where he stars as a Massachusetts detective.

Ludi Boeken

Ludi Boeken - World War Z
Paramount Pictures

Though Ludi Boeken has not been in front of the camera much, he knows his way around a camera crew and set. Boeken has been producing films since 1987, starting with an Israeli drama entitled Unsettled Land. Boeken has traveled all over and directed some incredible film such as Train of Life that focuses on a whole Jewish village attempts to escape the Holocaust.

Within the past decade, Boeken has not been directly tied to much of anything. He is, however, noted to be a partner at the French production company Acajou Films.

David Morse

David Morse in World War Z
Paramount Pictures

David Morse is used to being the biggest guy in the room at 6'4", so when he appears on-screen or on stage as just about any character, all eyes are on him. Morse got his big break in the industry with the medical drama series St. Elsewhere, and from there, people wanted his powerful presence in their works. He has been a part of films such as The Negotiator, The Green Mile, and Concussion.

At this moment, Morse's latest film, The Gettysburg Address, is close to releasing a premiere date, his miniseries, The Last Thing He Told Me, was just released in spring 2023, and he was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as Uncle Peck in the stage production How I Learned to Drive.
