The Indiana Jones franchise consists of five action-adventure films based on the adventures of the fictional professor of archeology, Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones, Jr. The series began in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark and ends with the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The series was created by George Lucas and stars Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. The first four films in the franchise were directed by Steven Spielberg. Additionally, the franchise expanded into a television series in 1992 with The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, which follows the titular character in his childhood and youth. The franchise also features comic books, novels, and videogames.

5 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny — 50%
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the fifth and final installment in the Indiana Jones franchise. It is the only film in the franchise that was not directed by Steven Spielberg or written by George Lucas. Instead, James Mangold directed the film, and it was co-written by Mangold, Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, and David Koepp, with Spielberg and Lucas serving as executive producers.
The Dial of Destiny serves as a sequel to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Harrison Ford stars as Indiana Jones, with John Rhys-Davies and Karen Allen reprising their roles as Sallah and Marion Ravenwood, respectively. New cast members include Phoebe Waller-bridge, Antonio Banderas, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, and Mads Mikkelsen.
The film follows archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones as he finds himself in a new era, approaching retirement, and struggling to fit in a world that seems to have outgrown him. But when an old rival returns, Jones must race against time to retrieve a mysterious dial called the Antikythera that can change the course of history, before it falls into the wrong hands. The film premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2023, and is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States on June 30, 2023. 4 Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom — 76%
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was released in 1984 and is the second installment in the Indiana Jones franchise. It serves as a prequel to the original film, Raiders of the Lost Ark. Ford stars as Indiana Jones, with Kate Capshaw, Amrish Puri, Roshan Set, Philip stone, and Ke Huy Quan in supporting roles.
Set in 1935, the film follows Jones after he is asked by desperate villages in India to find a mystical stone and rescue their children from a cult that practices child slavery, black magic, and human sacrifice in honor their goddess, Kali. On Rotten Tomatoes, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom received a 76% rating.
3 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull — 77%
The 2008 film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is the fourth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise. It was released and takes place 19 years after the previous film, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Set in 1957, Ford’s Indiana Jones is racing against Cate Blanchett’s Irina Spalko and her Soviet KGB agents to find a telepathic crystal skull in Peru. Allen returns as Marion Ravenwood, Jones’ former lover who helps him in his quest, and Shia LaBeouf plays their son, Mutt Williams. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull received a rating of 77% on Rotten Tomatoes.
2 Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade — 84%
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is the third installment in the Indiana Jones franchise. Released in 1989, the film serves as a sequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark. Ford plays the titular character of Indiana Jones, while his father is played by Sean Connery. Alongside Ford and Connery stars Alison Doody, Denholm Elliot, Julian Glover, River Phoenix, and John Rhys-Davies.
The film is set in 1938 and Jones is searching for his father, a Holy Grail scholar, who has been kidnapped and held hostage by Nazis. On Rotten Tomatoes’ TomatoMeter, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade received a score of 84%.

Released in 1981, Raiders of the Lost Ark is the first film in the Indiana Jones franchise. The film was directed by Spielberg and based on a story by Lucas and Philip Kaufman. Ford stars as Indiana Jones, a globetrotting archaeologist in 1936 that’s competing with Nazi German forces to recover the lost Ark of the Covenant that is believed to make an army invincible. Starring alongside Ford is Karen Allen as Indiana Jones’ former romantic interest Marion Ravenwood and Paul Freeman as Dr. Rene Belloq, Jones’ rival archaeologist. With the highest score of all the Indiana Jones films, Raiders of the Lost Ark has a 93% rating on the Tomatometer.
