Seann William Scott appears as Father Joe Binghoffer, Fletch's new minister who moved from the big city to the remote town and helps try to guide and support the troublemaking young pair. Based on the popular British series This Country, Welcome to Fletch earned mixed reviews from critics but was praised for its wry humor and quirky characters.

A remake of the beloved '70s series of the same name, the 2005 action comedy The Dukes of Hazzard stars Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott as the fun-loving, rambunctious Luke and Bo Duke, who go up against the crooked and greedy Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds) as he sets out to turn Hazzard County into coal-mining land and rid the community of its residents.

With the help of their sweet and sassy cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson) and the moonshine-selling Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson), the rowdy cousins must race against the clock (in their iconic car the General Lee) to stop Hogg's nefarious plans. Despite a lukewarm reaction from critics, The Dukes of Hazzard dominated the box office during its run and earned over $100 million, and was nominated for two MTV Movie Awards.

7 Ice Age Franchise

Crash & Eddie in the Ice Age Franchise
20th Century Fox

Scott began voicing the character of the mischievous opossum Crash in the blockbuster animated franchise Ice Age, originating the role in 2006'sIce Age: The Meltdown and reprising the character for three follow-up sequels. In his first outing as the sly little marsupial, the film follows Crash and his equally ornery brother Eddie (Josh Peck) as they and their mammoth "sister" Ellie (Queen Latifah) cross paths with Manny, Sid, and Diego as they rush to escape a massive flood that is heading their way.

The addition of the new characters Crash, Eddie, and Ellie helped add even more excitement and humor to the picture, and audiences couldn't get enough of the feel-good flick. The Meltdown went on to become the highest-grossing animated film of the year, raking in $667 million at the box office. The on-screen voice chemistry between Scott and Peck also helped make Crash and Eddie fan-favorite characters.

6 Dude, Where's My Car?

Dude Where's My Car
20th Century Fox

In Danny Leiner's 2000 cult classic stoner comedy Dude, Where's My Car?, best buds Jesse (Ashton Kutcher) and Chester (Scott) attempt to retrace their steps and locate their car after a wild night of partying and debauchery, leading them on a side-splitting misadventure involving eccentric individuals. The comedic duo beat out fellow stars Seth Rogen and Jake Gyllenhaal for the lead roles of the lazy, slacker potheads and their dynamic was singled out, with the New York Daily News noting their "surprisingly sweet-natured pairing."

Though Dude, Where's My Car? was loathed by critics upon its initial release, the stoner farce was a hit with moviegoers and its playful title helped establish it as an endlessly quotable pop culture moment and phrase. In the years since the film's debut, both Kutcher and Scott have expressed interest in a potential sequel titled Seriously Dude, Where's My Car?, with the latter actor voicing his desire to make it R-rated and for it to be "dark and really weird."

5 Goon

Alliance Films

Scott appeared as a Massachusetts misfit who goes from being a bouncer at a bar to a fierce and fearless minor-league hockey player in the 2011 sports comedy Goon, which chronicles Doug Glatt's (Scott) efforts to make something of himself and prove naysayers wrong after feeling like the black sheep of his academic family. The kind but dense outcast quickly realizes he has a dominating physical prowess and becomes the ferocious enforcer and leader of a struggling hockey team, and sets out to help them to become formidable foes to their competition.

Scott's portrayal in Goon was raved about and ultimately helped lead to its 2017 sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers, as were the performances of its stacked ensemble cast including Liev Schreiber, Jay Baruchel, and Kim Coates. In their glowing review of the lovable flick, Roger Ebert wrote, "The charm of Goon is that Doug Glatt (Scott) is a genial guy from a nice family. Just because he hands out concussions doesn't mean he dislikes anybody. He's just happy to be wearing a uniform."

4 The Rundown

The Rundown
Universal Pictures

Touting a star-studded cast led by Dwayne Johnson, Seann William Scott, Christopher Walken, and Rosario Dawson, the thrilling 2003 buddy action comedy The Rundown centers on expert bounty hunter Beck as he is tasked with hunting down his boss' cocky son (Scott) from a small Brazilian mining town in order to walk away from the business and open up a restaurant. After arriving in the town of El Dorado, Beck (Johnson) finds the task to be quite difficult after he crosses paths with its cruel founder/dictator (Walken) wreaking havoc on the town.

The winning comedic chemistry between Scott and Johnson was praised as was their side-splitting banter, and Scott's role as the wise-cracking, arrogant treasure hunter helped establish him as a talented leading man. Rumors of a sequel have been circulating since the comedy's release, and director Peter Berg revealed in 2020 that development for a follow-up film was ongoing, and a script was being re-worked.

3 The Wrath of Becky

Quiver Distribution

In Scott's most recent film to date, the charming performer shed his comedic persona in order to portray a ruthless leader of a dangerous fascist group in the 2023 action thriller The Wrath of Becky, with the flick serving as the highly-anticipated sequel to 2020's Becky. Lulu Wilson reprises her role as the titular heroine, who after surviving the brutal murder of her family must turn back to her old ways in order to protect her loved ones and new life.

Scott was able to showcase a darker and more menacing side with the villainous role, demonstrating his range and ability to branch out from strictly comedic characters. The actor opened up about the against-type character to Movie Fone, commenting, "I don't know what it says about me, but I slipped into the character pretty easy, it was pretty seamless. I really enjoyed playing something darker. I think what was fun with this movie too, because it was a smaller budget that you don't overanalyze with decisions you make as an actor."

2 Role Models

Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott brought the raunch and delightful hilarity when they starred as a pair of salesmen who are forced to do community service and mentor two oddball adolescents in the 2008 comedy Role Models. After the disillusioned Danny (Rudd) and womanizer Wheeler (Scott) agree to partake in the Big Brother program to earn their service hours, the rude and crude duo are caught-off-guard when they're assigned an awkward teen and vulgar fifth-grader whom they must mentor.

Role Models features the additional uproarious talents of Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Elizabeth Banks, and Jane Lynch, and went on to become both a critical and commercial hit. The film was named the "Best Comedy Film of 2008" by IGN and Rudd and Scott's undeniably fantastic camaraderie was singled out by critics.

Undeniably Seann William Scott's most iconic and celebrated role to date was as the hard-partying, fun-loving Steve Stifler in the juggernaut sex comedy franchise American Pie. The original 1999 installment quickly became a pop culture phenomenon, focusing on a group of high school seniors who make a pact to lose their virginity by the end of the school year, and featured an epic cast including Jason Bigg, Alyson Hannigan, and Jennifer Coolidge (among countless others) and an unforgettable scene involving the eponymous fruity dessert.

The franchise consists of four smash hit films and multiple spin-offs, and the comedies have gone on to nearly $1 billion at the box office worldwide. Fans couldn't get enough of the wildly amusing flicks, and Scott has since gone on to become synonymous for his portrayal of the wild Stifler. When asked whether or not he would ever reprise the role, Scott told US Weekly, "I just love that character and everbody involved [with the movie]. I think that could be really fun to see that character again, but it'd have to be, like, the perfect script."
