Great actors who don't care if their movies are "good".

Many actors dream of one day hearing their name called out at the Academy Awards so that their movie or performance is recognized as one of the absolute best of any given year. Many actors will also choose to star in films that they feel can showcase their abilities and will receive this kind of recognition as a result. Any performance you've seen from Daniel Day-Lewis, for example, will see him putting everything he's got into his roles, and he's been rewarded three times with an Oscar win for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Other actors will star in as many great movies as possible until they finally take home the coveted Oscar, with a great recent example being Leonardo DiCaprio.

However, not every actor in Hollywood is focused on making the best movies possible or putting on an incredible performance that will win tons of awards. Some actors will take on a project simply because it seems like the most fun part to play, and other actors will take on a role because they get to take home a huge paycheck. Regardless of the reason, there are so many great actors out there who just don't care about being in "good" movies. Here are ten.

10 Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher
Studios from the 20th century

Ashton Kutcher is most famous for his role as Michael Kelso in That 70's show, but he has also had a film career that has now spanned nearly 25 years. And throughout that long career, Kutcher mostly starred in movies within the romantic comedy genre. And unfortunately for Kutcher, most of these movies haven't been well received critically.

Kutcher starred in other movies where he tried to flex his acting chops a bit more, with movies like Jobs or The butterfly effect, but these kinds of films are few and far between for him. Kutcher certainly has a big enough name to star in more of these movies that aren't in his romantic comedy wheelhouse, but if it ain't broke, why fix it? He's clearly unaffected by the consistent negative critical reception, as he's had a very successful career so far.

9 Eddie Murphy

Paramount Pictures

Eddie Murphy is one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time, with his iconic 1980s shows Delirious And Raw. He has proven time and time again that he is also an incredible comedic actor, having starred in countless films that have been adored by critics and fans alike. Whether it is Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America, Shrek, or even Mulan, Murphy has proven that he can star in some great movies.

However, for any movie like Shrek, there is a movie like The Adventures of Pluto Nash to counter it. Sure, there are way more great Eddie Murphy movies than terrible movies, but Murphy has never been one to chase Oscar bait movies. Murphy knows what he's good at, and he's built an incredible career for himself that has spanned several generations.

8 Jennifer Lopez

The mother Netflix Jennifer Lopez

Whether you think about Jennifer Lopez as a singer/musician or you see her as an actress, Lopez has been making waves on the big screen for almost 30 years. One of her breakout roles was when she starred as Mexican-American music icon Selena Quintanilla Perez in the biographical film Selena. Since then, Lopez has acted in movies in all different genres be it drama, action, thriller, romance or comedy.

Despite appearing in all sorts of different types of films, not many have been critically well received. This didn't seem to bother Lopez though as she continued to star in just about anything she wants be it 2022 Shotgun marriage next to Josh Duhamel or Marry me with Owen Wilson. And with how much money she's made during her acting career, it doesn't seem like she's stopping any time soon.

7 Nicholas Cage

Nicolas Cage in National Treasure
Walt Disney Studios movies

Nicholas Cage is known for his crazy performances he's had throughout his career, dating all the way back to his first lead appearance in Valley girl in 1983. Despite starring in so many movies in his 40-year career, he's never been one to chase Oscar bait movies or movies that he truly believes he's going to win an award for. When you think of Nicolas Cage, you don't think of him starring in Oscar-worthy films you've probably never heard of, even though he has a Best

Actor Oscar for his performance in leaving Vegas, but you do think of him in movies like National Treasure, Con Air, The Rock, Ghost Rider, The Wicker Man, and so many more fan-favorite movies you won't see at an award show for the movie's story. Nicolas Cage acts in whatever he enjoys the most, and we can't blame him for that.

6 Robert de Niro

Good day
Warner Bros.

Naturally, Robert de Niro has been in so many critically acclaimed movies ranging from Raging Bull, The Godfather Part II, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, And The Irishman. This group of movies alone could help De Niro settle down as one of the greatest actors of all time, and about 20-30 years ago you could probably argue that De Niro really cared about being in movies that were widely known as " considered good". However, since De Niro has been around for so long and has been in so many different kinds of movies and had such a hugely successful career, it seems like De Niro just doesn't care anymore how good some of his movies are.

De Niro doesn't really have anything to prove to anyone anymore, which is why you've seen him in movies like Dirty grandpa where it doesn't seem to bother him how good the quality of a movie is. He's definitely been in some great movies lately, with The Irishman And prankster, but De Niro's resume speaks for itself, where he no longer cares that he only stars in Oscar-worthy films.

5 Harrison Ford

Paramount Pictures

Harrison Ford has been in some of the highest-grossing film franchises of all time in both films Star Wars And Indiana Jones, along with another famous franchise in blade runner. These franchises alone prove that Ford is an incredible actor with the way he embodies the characters of Han Solo, Indiana Jones, and Rick Deckard, but they also show that he doesn't necessarily care about the quality of some of the movies he stars in. Ford has stated in the past that he originally disliked it knife runner, but has since come to appreciate the film more now.

Ford isn't a big fan of the either Star Wars universe, showing that he has put aside his personal beliefs to act in many of his films. There's so much more to Harrison Ford than these iconic franchises, of course, but with so many movies Ford has starred in with just one Oscar nomination to his name, it also shows that his work isn't all about critical acclaim for him.

4 Al Pacino

Comparable to Robert De Niro, perhaps Al Pacino once given much more to be in movies that are considered "good". Scarface, The Godfather, Heat, and many more of Pacino's previous work which has received much critical acclaim shows the skill he has as an actor. And still he has proven that he can act just as well with more recent films, with some examples Once upon a time in Hollywood And The Irishman.

However, again similar to De Niro, he actually has nothing left to prove. He has shown time and time again that he can be one of the best actors ever, which is why he doesn't care much about the quality of a movie anymore. Look at Jack and Jill, For example. He plays himself in what is considered by many to be one of the worst movies ever, but you still can't really blame him for getting that paycheck.

3 Adam Sandler

Adam Sandler as Stanley Sugerman
Netflix

We all know Adam Sandler as a comedic actor, with some of his most famous films Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, The Waterboy, And Adults. However, with all of these beloved Adam Sandler movies, there's also been a litany of Sandler movies that are just as hated as these movies. Movies like Jack and Jill And pixels shows that Sandler doesn't mind starring in movies that fans and critics alike dislike, as he's also had a career that speaks for itself at this point.

Sandler who is not afraid to step out of his comfort zone proves with credits like Punch-Drunk Love, uncut gems, and most recently Rush to his name. Rush seemed like a passion project for Sandler mainly thanks to his love of basketball, proving once again that he doesn't care about the outside reception when it comes to his movie making process.

2 Danny DeVito

Walt Disney Studios movies

Danny DeVito is a universally loved actor and he hasn't been afraid to say that he likes to do projects for himself, not anyone else. Perhaps his most famous role as Frank Reynolds on It's always sunny in Philadelphia was a role he especially wanted to take on, despite others not knowing why he would participate in a show like Sunny. But as far as his film career goes, DeVito hasn't been concerned about critical reception or the outside noise either.

Whether he lends his voice to animated films such as Hercules And the Lorax, put on a wild performance as the Penguin in it batman returns, or even starring icons like Jack Nicholson and Arnold Schwarzenegger One flew over the cuckoo's nest And Twins, Danny DeVito starred in anything he wanted to, and we love him all the more for that.

1 Samuel L. Jackson

Finally we have Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson is an excellent example of an actor who doesn't care about starring in movies that are considered "good" as he is an actor who cares more about having fun and enjoying the job he does. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Jackson said, "My measure of success is my luck...I'd rather be Nick Fury. Or have fun as Mace Windu with a lightsaber in my hand." Jackson admits he sometimes wanted to feel jaded because he didn't have any awards to his name, but he's learned to move past them.

Jackson enjoys making movies that allow people to escape from their everyday lives and enjoy what's on screen for them. And considering that Jackson is someone who has been acting for so long, it's great to see him care more about his own happiness and making movies for viewers to enjoy rather than making a movie for an award and get a pat on the ground. back at the end of the day.
