10 Disney Movies That Will Never Be In Kingdom Hearts And Why

kingdom hearts is an extremely popular video game series published by Square Enix and made in collaboration with the Walt Disney Company. The games feature crossovers with popular Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse and other franchises Winnie the Pooh, The nightmare Before Christmas, pirates of the Caribbean, The lionkingand much more in addition to Square Enix properties such as Final fantasy, The world ends with youAnd One-sided.

That was announced in 2022 Kingdom Hearts IV was in development, leading many people to speculate about which Disney properties would be included in the new game. The previous entry brought in beloved franchises such as Frozen And Big hero 6and fans have suggested new worlds for the sequel ranging from Raya and the Last Dragon Unpleasant Luke and even 20th Century Fox properties that Disney now owns avatar And The Simpsons.

Fan favorite picks are also the MCU or Star Wars characters, but for all the Dinsey movies mentioned, there are plenty that don't make it to the games. In fact, there are plenty of movies that seem like safe bets never to appear in the franchise. Here are the ten Disney movies that never made it kingdom hearts games.

Light year

Kingdom Hearts 3 introduced the world of the Toy Story universe, with Woody and Buzz meeting Sora, Donald, and Goofy in Andy's room. But while the classic Toy Story characters made an appearance, the recent spin-off movie is highly unlikely Light year will make an appearance.

One reason is that the film's underperformance at the box office makes it less of a priority to include in the game than films like Encanto, To blush or Forward. The other is the premise of the movie to be a movie within the movie Toy Story universe that Andy saw and inspired the Buzz Lightyear line of toys. This meta premise has been difficult for the mainstream audience to understand and contribute to Light year's box office failure. While kingdom hearts has its own confusing knowledge of the high concept nature ofthe film in its relation to the Toy Story franchise maybe too much for that kingdom hearts.

National treasure

While most kingdom hearts realms visited in the series are popular animated films, they have dipped their toes in live-action franchises, but rarely. Have been the only two included in the games Tron And pirates of the Caribbean. With that in mind, it looks like another popular Disney franchise produced by Jerry Bruckheimer would be ideal for the game series: National treasure.

Yet National treasure seems like a tough question, even though the movie's central premise seems like a scavenger hunt and quest ideal for a video game. Even with a recent series on Disney+, that's unlikely National treasure would occur in kingdom hearts without an appearance by Nicolas Cage's character Benjamin Franklin Gates. The pirates of the Caribbean levels feature a lot of Jack Sparrow, and while Johnny Depp doesn't voice the character, they do use his likeness. It feels like Square Enix and Disney wanted to include it National Treasure, they would already have.

The mighty ducks

The mighty ducks is a comprehensive multimedia franchise for Disney. It includes three feature films released in 1992, 1994 and 1996, as well as an animated series not related to the films, but about anthropomorphic duck superheroes. It was also recently revived as a Disney+ series called The Might Ducks: Game Changers which has unfortunately been cancelled.

Despite The mighty ducks with a big brand recognition at Disney and one the company recently tried to revive, it's hard to find a place for this series to fit in kingdom hearts outside maybe a minigame. The animated series version with the cartoon ducks probably fits the bill better kingdom hearts world, but the series only lasted one season and has been largely forgotten, so it is highly unlikely that a version of this series will appear.

Herbie the love bug

Herbie the love bug is one of Disney's oldest and most iconic film franchises, despite being out of relevance for decades. The original movie, The love bugwas released in 1968 and was followed by three theatrical sequels in the 1970s and early 1980s, a made-for-television remake in 1997 of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed (starring Bruce Campbell, of all people), and a 2006 relaunch starring Lindsey Lohan.

Herbie the Love Bug is an icon, but he is not very popular or known to the general public, especially children who kingdom hearts game series. While it's unlikely the characters would visit a world with Herbie, it would be nice to see him as a summoning character, but that remains an unlikely possibility.

Dick Tracey

Dick Tracey was Disney's big budget action blockbuster for the summer of 1990 and was intended as their answer to Batman. While the film was a hit earning three Academy Awards out of seven nominations and fondly remembered today for its unique visual style. Although the film failed to launch a movie franchise as Disney wanted and has been a cult classic above all, the world of Dick Tracey seems perfect for a video game, especially one like kingdom hearts.

Other than the fact that the movie is 33 years old and probably not well remembered to warrant a major level in the game, the movie rights make this almost impossible. While Disney distributed the film, it is star and director Warren Beatty who owns the film rights Dick Tracey. Normally he would have lost the film rights after all this time, but in 2010 he produced and starred in Dick Tracy special which aired once on TCM to retain the rights.

On February 11, 2023, Beatty appeared as Dick Tracey and himself in it Dick Tracy Special: Tracy zooms in, which also aired on Turner Classic Movies, allowing him to retain the rights. If Square Enix and Disney wanted to use it Dick Tracey in Kingdom Hearts 4 they would need approval from Warren Beatty.

The Rocket Builder

The following summer after Dick TraceyBet Disney on another pulp comic hero to launch a franchise with The Rocket Builder. The movie is directed by Future Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston and was a return to pulp adventure series but was a box office disappointment in the summer of 1991.

However, unlike Dick TraceyDisney actually seems to still have the rights The Rocket Builder. They released a Disney Jr. animated series. from which acted as a loose sequel and they were in development on a sequel with Dedication filmmaker JD Dillard who was recently dropped. The box office disappointment of the film alongside the recent reboot cancellation shows that the franchise is not a priority for Disney and unlikely to be held in high esteem in a world where kingdom hearts.

The lonely forest ranger

One of the last big budget live action movies Disney made to give chase pirates of the Caribbean formula, before switching to MCU and Star Wars films that form the basis of their action franchises, The lonely forest ranger was an adaptation of the popular western hero.

The movie was one of the highest-profile box office bombs in recent history, so that's one of the reasons why, even if Disney still had the rights, The lonely forest ranger would not appear in it kingdom hearts. The other major factor is the various accusations surrounding stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp, making this an overall toxic film to the touch, and one that Disney would rather forget.

John Carter

John Carter is one of the most talked about and notable bombs in box office history, and one that Disney will forever be associated with. The film has gained cult status and the like Tronthe world of John Carter makes for an exciting prospect to realize in a video game. The alien world of Barsoom aka Mars would provide some exciting levels.

However, not only is it unlikely that Disney would want to be associated with a bomb of this magnitude, but they also lost the movie rights to the character, so this is yet another case of a high-profile potential franchise that Disney bets big, doesn't launch, and eventually lets go .

Who framed Roger Rabbit

Who framed Roger Rabbit is a beloved iconic film from the 1980s and was an engineering marvel that formed the basis for animated characters interacting in a live-action world. The character of Roger Rabbit was featured in Disney shorts in the 1990s, nearly got a movie sequel, and even had a cameo in Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers. It seems odd that Roger Rabbit and Toontown haven't been included yet kingdom hearts.

It may be that the nature of the material is a little too crazy for the kingdom hearts game, which says something about being able to mix Winnie the Pooh and Final fantasy, but it can also be a rights issue. Roger Rabbit was developed through Amblin Entertainment, which is owned by Steven Spielberg who has a deal with Universal Pictures. While Roger Rabbit remains a fixture at Disney parks, it feels like gamers won't see him, Jessica Rabbit, or any other character from the movies in kingdom hearts.

Song of the South

Disney+ won't stream Song of the South or controversial Dumbo Jim Crow scene

Hands down the one Disney movie that will never be released kingdom heartsor really any Disney material, is Song of the South. Since its release, the film has been controversial for its handling of race and Disney has made every effort to distance itself from it and has not released it on home video since the 1980s.

But, ridiculously, the animated characters from the movie were still the main focus of the Splash Mountain ride, which will now replace them with characters from The Princess and the Frog. Disney would want R-rated Fox properties Alien And Predator in Kingdom Hearts 4 for something of Song of the South found its way into the game.
